Yunnan Project:
“Develop not Destroy” these are the words of the people of Yunnan province as they strive to develop a sustainable, new economy based on product design. Using indigenous materials, local processes and regional expertise they aim to develop a variety of products suitable for export. Developments that respect their culture and environment but provide an equitable income are the goals of this project. The Yunnan Trust will be created to ensure the profits are equitably shared amongst all stakeholders.

The workshop did work with strategic government and industry partners to develop a design based strategy to create this new local economy.

The project were handled by 4 teams of five students, one from each country supervised by tutors from HKPU and partner design schools. Have a look at their project presentationmovies.
